The first match in the Czechoslovak national hockey league was played 80 years ago (January 3rd, 1937). The teams Vítkovice and Sparta Prague met on a natural ice rink in a sports pavilion in the Jožka Jabůrková Park in Ostrava-Vítkovice in the Moravia-Silesia region.

Czech football coach Vrba ends in Russian Makhachkala

New Year's Eve Derby pražských "S" to take place Dec. 31

Golden Spike athletics meeting to be held at end of June

The Golden Spike international athletic meet in Ostrava will be only held on June 28 since the organisers suppose that this later date will produce better sports performances, the event's sports manager Alfons Juck said on Wednesday.
