German artists Gunter Demnig installed seven new Stolpersteine (stumbling blocks) commemorating the Jewish Bergmann family, some of whose members died in the Holocaust and others had to flee it abroad, in Chotěboř on Wednesday.

Czech woman punished for stripping Norwegian man of huge sum

A Czech court has found Barbora Havirova, 27, guilty of cheating over 53 million crowns out of a 60-year-old Norwegian man whom she met on a web with erotic services, and sentenced her to eight years in prison for a large-size fraud.

Appeals court rejects hijab complaint of Muslim student

Blast claims one life at Czech Army buildings

One person died and one got injured in an explosion that occurred in the Jugo military quarters in Vyškov yesterday morning, Defence Ministry spokesman Jan Pejsek said on Tuesday. The blast is a tragic accident that must be investigated, Defence Minister Martin Stropnický told ČTK. He said he regretted that a man lost his life in it. The ministry said it seems the blast was not caused by an attack or deliberate action.

Golden Prague TV festival to offer 73 music, theatre, dance films
