Fraudulent used car dealers caught in Prague

Czech detectives caught three foreigners based in Prague who presented themselves as used car dealers online and lured millions of crowns from people to whom they promised cars for low prices, Liberec regional police spokeswoman Ivana Balakova said on Thursday.

Spejbl & Hurvínek Prague theatre head, puppeteer Štáchová dies

Helena Stachova, a puppeteer who played the key female roles of Manicka and Mrs Katerina in the comic tales of the Spejbl & Hurvinek (S+H) Puppet Theatre, which she headed from 1996, died last night at the age of 72 at home, her daughter Denisa Kirschnerova told CTK.

Groundwater reserves dramatically decline in Czech Republic

Groundwater reserves have been dramatically declining in the Czech Republic and if the drought of the past three years continues, the country will have a real problem, Environment Minister Richard Brabec told Wednesday's issue of daily Právo.

IMO: Czech diplomacy is passive, lacks strong leader

Czech diplomacy got mark three for its activities in 2016 from a team of analysts of the Association for International Affairs (IMO) who assessed it along the 1-5 scale, where five is the worst mark, IMO says in its yearbook issued on Wednesday.

MPs want court to abolish part of parties' financing law

A group of Czech senators, headed by representatives of the Mayors and Independents (STAN) movement, sent a proposal to abolish a part of the law on financing political parties to the Constiutional Court (US) on Wednesday, MEP and STAN deputy head Stanislav Polcak has told CTK.

Czech Republic to give 25 million to Iraq's reconstruction

Prague court sends nanny to prison for fatally injuring baby

Dieu Vu Thi, who worked as a nanny of children of her Vietnamese expatriates in Prague, is to go to prison for 11 years for heavily injuring two small girls one of whom died due to the injury, the Prague Municipal Court ruled on Wednesday.

Coffin with Cardinal Vlk's remains displayed before funeral

People will have an opportunity to pay their last respects to the Cardinal, former Prague Archbishop and Czech Catholic Church Primate, Miloslav Vlk, who died aged 84 on March 18, in two churches in Prague on Thursday and Friday, Stanislav Zeman, told CTK on Wednesday.
