Czech parliament denies UNESCO resolution on Jerusalem

The Chamber of Deputies today rejected a new UNESCO resolution, saying it denies Israeli sovereignty over all of Jerusalem, and called on the Czech government to stop sending financial contributions to UNESCO.

Czech bank's coin marks 75 years since Anthropoid operation

The Czech National Bank (ČNB) has issued a silver commemorative coin to mark 75 years since the Anthropoid operation within which Czechoslovak paratroopers attacked and fatally injured Reinhard Heydrich, one of the highest-ranking Nazi officers, in Prague, the CNB announced on its website yesterday.

Babiš threatens to take PM to court over slander

Finance Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) today threatened Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (Social Democrats, ČSSD) with a lawsuit unless he ceases to publicly suspecting him of tax evasion and abuse of the Financial Administration, with which he justified Babiš's dismissal.

Kajínek says Havel did not pardon him despite vow

Jiří Kajínek, a contract killer and life convict who was released from prison after President Miloš Zeman granted pardon to him today, said pardon was promised to him by former president Václav Havel already, and Havel's successor Václav Klaus vowed to help him as well.

New FinMin Pilný says 2018 draft state budget is reasonable

Ivan Pilný (ANO), candidate for the financial minister, considers the Czech draft state budget for 2018 reasonable, he told journalists after a meeting with President Miloš Zeman, adding that the deficit of CZK 50 billion is a conservative estimate.

EU must boost exchange of information due to terrorism, PM says

Czechs can voice sympathy to attack survivors at British embassy

Czechs can express sympathy to the families and friends of the victims of Monday's terrorist attack in Manchester at the British embassy in Prague as from Wednesday, its spokesman Jiří Šebek told ČTK yesterday, while ambassador Jan Thompson thanked the Czech Republic for its support.

ANO did not accept donation from accused businessman, Babiš says

The ANO movement has not accepted the donation worth 1.1 million crowns from businessman David Rusňák, who was remanded in custody today within suspected leaks of information from Czech police files, ANO leader Andrej Babiš told the website of the public broadcaster Czech Radio.

Právo: Slovakia to launch its first miniature satellite in June

Slovakia will launch its first SKCUBE satellite in early June, daily Právo reported yesterday referring to Jakub Kapus, head of the Slovak Organisation for Space Activities (SOSA), who said it will be launched into orbit by India.
