MfD: Most Czech students do not mind tuition

Four-fifths of some 1000 respondents, mostly university students, would not mind tuition at Czech higher education facilities, according to a poll conducted by the ISIC agency for daily Mladá fronta Dnes (MfD) and released in its issue on the first school day yesterday.

Number of summer fires record high

Firefighters had to assist in 5884 fires, in which 27 people died and 253 were injured, in the Czech Republic in July and August, which is the highest number in 20 years.

Poll: Family behind school problems of Czech Romani children

The problems of Czech Romani children at school are caused mainly by their family environment and not by lack of talent, teachers at the first grade of primary schools say in a survey conducted by the Open Society organisation, its representatives told ČTK yesterday.

PM: ČR applies laws, treaties in approach to refugees

The Czech Republic is approaching migrants in compliance with laws and international treaties, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka told ČTK yesterday, in connection with the detention of some 200 refugees on trains from Vienna and Hungary in Breclav, south Moravia, in the night.
