Living conditions in the Czech detention facilities for refugees are inhuman and humiliating, Czech Organisation for Aid to Refugees (OPU) head Martin Rozumek said in an interview with Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) released on Wednesday.

PM: ČR not to file complaint about refugee quotas

The Czech Republic will not join the Slovak complaint about temporary refugee quotas within the UE not to fall into isolation in negotiations about permanent migrant quotas that it wants to reject, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (Social Democrats, CSSD) said Thursday.

ČR to extend controls of Austrian border on Saturday

The Czech Republic will extend random controls introduced over the migrant crisis along the Austrian border in mid-September from 14 to 20 border crossings on Saturday, spokeswoman for the Interior Ministry told ČTK Thursday.

PM: Ten million Syrian migrants pose risk

There are 10.5 million Syrian migrants in the Middle East and North Africa, who pose the biggest risk of further migration, Czech PM Bohuslav Sobotka told journalists after a night meeting of the National Security Council (BRS) early Wednesday, citing the Czech intelligence services.

Jirsa appointed as new Constitutional Court judge
