Prices for butter have been rising and are now at record levels. Butter is 42.6% more expensive than it was last year, and on average is CZK 47 for a 250 grams. This stands out against consumer prices in general which were unchanged, according to the Czech Statistical Office.

Wisconsin businessman Steve King will be nominated for US ambassador to the Czech Republic. This confirms rumors that circulated in May. At first, there was confusion, as a congressman from Iowa has the same name, but the congressman denied that he was being considered.

Jet2.com launching Prague to Birmingham route

British low-cost airline Jet2.com will be expanding in the Czech Republic with the introduction of low fares to Birmingham. The route will start service on Nov. 3, 2017, and will operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.

Nultý Bod starts July 17

The progressive theater festival Nultý Bod will take place on various stages around Prague from July until 17 to 23. The festival first took place in 2009. Its goal is to present provocative European theater genres and trends in dance, physical theater and performing arts to the Czech audience.

Prague Pride 2017 urges acceptance

Over the past six years, the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) festival Prague Pride has become an important part of summer culture in Prague. Again this year it will address new and taboo topics, it will create a space where a heterosexual majority can meet LGBT community and it will bring guests from abroad.
