STAN wants to run independently

A crushing majority of the Mayors and Independents' (STAN) national committee is for the movement running independently in the Czech general elections to be held on October 20-21, its chairman Petr Gazdík said on Tuesday.

KDU-ČSL criticises STAN's decision to run solo in elections

Tuesday's decision of the Mayors and Independents (STAN) to run in the Czech general election solo and not with the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) means an unnecessary splitting of forces and the threat of a one-party monopoly, the KDU-CSL has said in a press release sent to CTK.

Senator Kubera has enough signatures to run for Czech president

Senate deputy chairman Jaroslav Kubera (Civic Democrats, ODS) has collected enough signatures of fellow senators enabling him to run for president in 2018, and he wants to decide on his candidacy at the last moment depending on who else will join the race, server reported yesterday.

Ex-PM denies offering lucrative posts to rebel deputies

Petr Nečas, former Czech prime minister facing corruption charges, dismissed today the accusation that he bribed three rebel deputies by promising them lucrative posts at conspiratory meetings, and told the court that he sought a compromise with them, not their departure from parliament.

Babiš, Přibil to testify before MPs' commission next week

Czech Pirates want duty to provide info to apply to ČEZ
