Zeman ready to appoint Schillerová as finance minister

President Milos Zeman told journalists on Sunday that he was ready to accept Alena Schillerova (ANO) as the new finance minister if she were a candidate of ANO, but if Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka did not propose her, the coalition agreement should be terminated.

PM highlights V4 and Benelux countries' joint priorities

The Visegrad Four (V4) countries, or the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, have in Europe joint priorities with the Benelux countries, or Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, Czech PM Bohuslav Sobotka said at the close of his two-day visit to Luxembourg yesterday.

Zeman to ask court whether PM's demand binds him to sack minister

President Miloš Zeman will ask the Constitutional Court (US) whether the president is bound to dismiss a minister under all circumstances if this is proposed by the prime minister, he said today, adding that he is ready to respect the court decision.

ANO to propose new FinMin, Babiš says

ANO Chairman and Finance Minister Andrej Babiš said today ANO is going to propose a candidate for new finance minister and he called on PM Bohuslav Sobotka to convoke a meeting of the Coalition Council, comprised of the three government parties' leaders, as soon as possible.

President Zeman leaves for week-long visit to China

President Miloš Zeman left Prague yesterday evening for a six-day visit to China where he is to meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, address a conference on the Silk Road project and have talks with Chinese bodies and business representatives.
