Babiš to negotiate parties' support for his gov't before Christmas

Andrej Babis, Czech ANO leader whose new minority cabinet is to be appointed on December 13, wants to hold separate talks with all parties in parliament in the last week before Christmas to discuss their possible support for his cabinet, he told journalists on Monday.

ANO to ask KSČM for another candidate for GIBS commission head

The Czech election-winning ANO will ask the Communists (KSČM) to consider nominating someone else for head of the lower house commission supervising the General Inspection of Security Corps (GIBS) instead of Zdeněk Ondráček, ANO chairman Andrej Babiš told ČTK on Monday.

Zeman to address congress of Okamura's anti-EU movement

President Miloš Zeman will deliver an address to the participants in the congress of the anti-EU Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) movement on Saturday, December 9, his spokesman said on Monday. SPD leader Tomio Okamura said the conference would deal with the government-forming negotiations, the 2018 local and Senate elections and the forthcoming meeting of European anti-migrant parties.

PM: Czech gov't takes risk of influencing elections seriously

Czech PM Bohuslav Sobotka assured Jiri Drahos, a contender for presidency, that the cabinet and other responsible institutions take seriously the risk of a possible rigging of elections in the country by disinformation spread from abroad, the Government Office announced on Friday.

Presidential bidder Drahoš fears influencing of Czech elections

Presidential candidate Jiří Drahoš is afraid that election results in the Czech Republic have been influenced by foreign secret services by means of disinformation, he said on Friday, adding that PM Bohuslav Sobotka told him Czech intelligence bodies are dealing with the threat.

Poll: Most Czechs approve of coalition talks' termination by Babiš

More than a half (53 percent) of Czechs believe it was pointless for the election-winning ANO head Andrej Babis to negotiate on forming a coalition government longer than he did, while 38 percent share the opposite view, according to the Kantar TNS agency's poll released by Czech Television on Sunday.

Pirates would end second if elections held in November

The ANO movement would win the Czech general election with 30 percent of the vote again, if held in November, while the runner-up would be the Pirates with 14 percent, the party that came third in the election in October, according to Kantar agency's election model released on Sunday.

Plaga to be education minister, whole Babiš gov't lineup revealed

Robert Plaga (ANO), deputy education minister for universities, will be the education minister in the new Czech cabinet to be appointed in mid-December, its head Andrej Babis (ANO) said on Czech Television on Sunday, confirming the name of the last still officially unknown minister.
