New ice stadium to be built near Skalka

A modern-design ice stadium called Padok Icerink is planned for Prague's Strašnice neighborhood in Prague 10. It should open to the public in January 2018. The stadium will be the first new one in 15 years and it will join eight others in the city. The structure will be financed by a privately run Padok Investments and cost some CZK 170 million.

Prague exhibition on Charles IV has highest attendance in 2016

The most popular exhibition in the Czech Republic last year was the Czech-German project presenting the King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV (1316-1378) that attracted 92,857 visitors in four months, 692 a day on average, according to data from Art&Antiques magazine.

The Underground Man is an American who loves accordion, blues and Tom Waits. He got his start at a bar in Kiev. He then brought his music to Tbilisi, where he eventually decided to start a band with the help of some of his close friends playing the underground bar circuit there. These days, he can be found rocking it out in Prague, both solo and with the Irish folk band Cupla Focal, and also on occasional appearances back in his adopted Sakartvelo (Georgia).

Nordic Film Winter festival starts

Nordic Film Winter will present 19 recent films at kino Lucerna from Feb. 9 to 15, and then continue to a dozen other cities. The films with have English and Czech subtitles in Prague, Brno and Ostrava. The festival kicks off with House of Norway, a new drama about a refugee who comes to Norway seeking asylum, and winds up at a secluded academy where he must pass a series of tests in order to stay.
